You can buy white sauce in jars, or packets that you just add milk to. However its not complicated, and once you've had a go, it can be used when making lasagne, cheese sauce, and many other uses.
The big trick is you need a small hand whisk. It will make finishing the sauce off much quicker, and help to make a smooth sauce with no lumps.
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan on a medium heat.
- While the butter is melting, warm the milk in the microwave. It will speed up the sauce a lot.
- Add the pinch of salt and warmed milk and mix thoroughly with the hand whisk
- Turn the heat up a little and continue to stir with the whisk until the sauce thickens. Dont forget to get into the corners of the pan to make sure it doesnt stick and burn.
If you make too much, it can be frozen for another time. Dont forgte to label in the freezer as you wont remember what it is when you find it in a months time.
